Post-op Pain Management

These instructions are to help minimize pain and discomfort before and after oral surgery procedures.

  1. You may take 1000mg of Tylenol (acetaminophen) and 600mg of Advil (ibuprofen) together every six (6) hours.
  2. Rinsing with warm saltwater (½ teaspoon table salt in 8 oz. of warm water) will assist with healing and help keep the surgical sites clean.
  3. If you have been prescribed antibiotics, it is very important to FINISH TAKING ALL OF THE ANTIBIOTICS AS PRESCRIBED (unless otherwise directed by Dr. Holland), even if you start to feel better before completing the course. Failure to take the medication(s) as directed could result in the infection returning and becoming more severe.
  4. If you are experiencing cold sensitivity, try letting your food and drinks come up to room temperature before eating or drinking.
